Heidenstamrummet
The Heidenstam Room’s Rococo Cabinet.
This Rococo cabinet, one of the manor house's most beautiful rooms, is well-furnished and symmetrical, qualities believed to be especially restful. The Rococo style is reflected in the gilded frames and charming landscapes in the wall paintings. From the windows, the view is captivating, overlooking the Ekeblad oak and the glittering Bråviken.
The bed is 140 cm wide and partially housed in an alcove. The old-fashioned corner wardrobe has been replaced with a shower and toilet.
The poet from Östergötland, Verner von Heidenstam, always stayed in this room when visiting his dear friend, Count Bonde. When his writer friend, Count Birger Mörner, became the owner of the manor house, Heidenstam continued to be a guest. It was here that Heidenstam wrote part of his short story collection "The Carolinians."
Don't be surprised if the bedspread occasionally gets crinkled. That’s simply the castle’s own house gnome, "Lille Gråe." He wanders around the castle, turning off lights and moving cushions. It seems this room is especially dear to him. But he is no malevolent ghost.
